What is a job description for a construction senior vice president operations?

Senior Vice President of Construction Reporting to the President and CEO, the Senior Vice President of Construction is responsible for managing project management and delivery team. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, training, and managing all the functions of project management and implementation for firm and to lead the business unit to achieve company objectives for growth, revenue and profitability. General Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills Strong analytical, planning, budgeting, and forecasting skills Possess a customer service orientation Respectful and outstanding leadership skills that motivates staff to exceed expectations The ability to articulate a vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates a team and focuses their energy on meeting and achieving business goals The ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes Proven ability to lead a proactive team and ensure accountability for results that maximize contribution to business objectives Primary Responsibilities: Be part of firms Senior Leadership team and participate in the creation and implementation of strategic plans Develop and manage the execution of the business unit’s annual business plan and operating budget Lead and manage the Program Management, Pre-Construction, Project Management, Estimating and Procurement teams Create, manage and execute strategies and tactical plans related to the firms Project Management and Delivery team Achieve targeted Delivery financial goals and ensure timely reporting of changes Work with the corporate finance team to update forecasts and meet quarterly forecasts Responsible for achieving all project schedules Measure the effectiveness of the Delivery teams and implement improvements as needed to improve efficiencies and profitability Coach, mentor and raise the team’s ability to deliver and exceed expectations while creating opportunities for succession talent Be responsible for securing and maintaining general contractor licenses nationally Meet with all direct reports on a regular basis to provide guidance and support as needed to advance projects and meet revenue and profitability expectations Support Business Development in the sales process when needed Expedite the completion of all corrective and/or warranty work in a timely fashion Represent the company at key grand opening events Develop with IT a long-range technology plan to be a practically-based advanced technology driven operation Develop with the HR team development programs for educational and career advancement Expectations: Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment A track record of performance excellence meeting corporate targets and objectives Capacity to assume additional executive responsibilities over time Travel will be expected as needed, most likely to exceed 50% monthly Education and Experience Prerequisites: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management and/or Business Administration MBA preferred but not required 10 years in Project/Construction Management, with 5 years in a senior management capacity
