How to conduct an effective exit interview?

The best construction exit interview is one that first tries to persuade a good construction employee from leaving. Try to find out what the issues are that are driving the construction employee away to a competitor- money, training, management, career advancement and see if you can create an equal or better opportunity. However if the construction employee is not open to a counter-offer then try to find out what ideas she may have to improve your construction organization to avoid losing any future construction employees. You should also take care of all legal and accounting and HR matters at this meeting so that the departing construction employee understands what the organization's policies are. Taking files or records, soliciting clients, receiving construction bonuses, insurances, pension etc. should all be addressed.
